DATE: Osun Group is the newly launched production company founded by pioneering media entrepreneur Luti Fagbenle (Maxxx/ Robyn Hood / Blue Therapy and founder of Luti Media). With bases in the UK and US, Osun has brought in producer Sheila Nortley to lead its ambitious TV slate as Head of Drama and Executive Producer in a new partnership deal. Nortley, celebrated for her work on Netflix hits Supacell and Harlan Coben’s Stay Close, brings her extensive experience and passion for culturally resonant storytelling to this dynamic new venture.

Luti Fagbenle biography

 

Luti Fagbenle is a pioneering entrepreneur and award-winning executive producer with a track record across many sectors of the entertainment industry, including music, advertising, theatre, and television.

 

His career began on stage in the West End, playing Simba in The Lion King, and then onscreen as a series regular on the long running drama Hollyoaks. In 2006, he launched his own production company, Luti Media, which rose to acclaim by producing music videos, commercials, and branded content. Luti's work broke records for the most views in 24 hours and the most YouTube views of the year. He left an indelible mark on pop culture, collaborating with superstars including Beyoncé, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Jay-Z, and Kanye West. Luti Media executed campaigns for some of the most recognizable brands, including Google, HSBC, Nike, and countless more. In film, Luti produced the BAFTA-nominated Mixtape. In theatre, Luti Media was responsible for the Olivier Award-winning Misty, which transferred to the West End. His work in fashion, for brands including Alexander Wang, AllSaints, and Anya Hindmarch, has been featured in Vogue numerous times.

 

Luti's television career began with the BAFTA-nominated Dynamo: Magician Impossible (UKTV) before launching a string of successful TV series under the Luti Media banner. In 2020, Luti Media launched its debut comedy series, the primetime (Channel 4 / Hulu) sitcom Maxxx, written by and starring O-T Fagbenle. The show, which featured Christopher Meloni, Jonathan Ross, and Jourdan Dunn, was nominated for an RTS Award. Luti Media’s debut reality TV series, Highlife (Channel 4 / Discovery+), was the first Black British reality TV series and trended number 1 on Twitter. In drama, Luti Media produced the action-drama series Robyn Hood (Corus / Global) created by Director X. Sheila Nortley Biography:

 

Sheila Nortley is an award-winning producer and writer, with a scope of work that extends internationally across film and television. Reflecting her passion for storytelling and a desire to tell stories that weren’t being seen, Sheila has produced high-end television drama, and as a filmmaker she has produced and written multiple short and feature films.

 

Her film credits include Sable Fable, Limbo, Moon Over Aburi and Sometimes I Feel all of which were selected at multiple international film festivals. Her additional credits include short films Joy, Sacred Knowledge, and music videos for Shingai’s including Too Bold and We Roll.

 

Her television producer credits include the global #1 Netflix series Supacell, and Netflix’s global hit drama Harlen Coben’s Stay Close.

 

In 2023, Sheila created and executive produced Osoro, a short film in collaboration with Cameron Roach’s Rope Ladder Fiction, as part of a drive to create black voiced projects to be developed into drama series. Sheila is currently developing her debut feature script Birdsong, which was selected for the 2021 Brit List, with BFI, Film London, and the BBC.

 

Among her accolades, Sheila won the Woman of the Future Award 2016 in Arts & Culture for her work in film, and in 2018 she became an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society, and she was selected to join the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew 2021.
